History

UH Head Coach Dave Shoji, with the help of Howard Wallace, founded Rainbows Volleyball Club in 1985. The club was established to provide Hawaii's youth a place to learn a high level of competitive volleyball. Shortly after its establishment, ASICS Tiger Corp., manufacturer of athletic shoes, clothing and accessories, became a corporate sponsor and the club was then renamed to ASICS Rainbows Volleyball Club. In 1998, Luis Ramirez became the Club Director/Head Coach.  Throughout the years, the club has been known as Asics Rainbows, Rox Rainbows, RRVC.  In 2020, RVCH celebrated 35 years of club volleyball. It was also a year of complete change due to the pandemic. The biggest change for RVCH was a pivot away from club volleyball to focusing on providing technical high level volleyball skills training open to all players, girls and boys, from all clubs. Training is conducted by Coach Luis Ramirez.  Currently all training sessions are at the VolleyHawaii Gym on Dillingham Blvd.
